Sample of NOI (Notice of Intent)

I have had several questions on submitting the NOI- Notice of Intent.  The NOI should be mailed to the superintendent's office within the first week of school starting for your district.  In the same envelope, the prior year's End of Year Assessment should be provided at that time.

My district will send a worksheet form to fill out for convenience.  Some people use this, some people don't.  I don't use it, I type up my own.  I make sure to include what is required and nothing more; for example, email and phone number is optional so I do not include it.

Here is a link to the law and what is required:

Here is an example copy of the NOI that I submit.

Academic Assessment Report

Do you need an Academic Assessment Report?

I am a licensed teacher in the state of Ohio and hold a valid Ohio teaching certificate.  I taught public school from 2001-2013 and have been a homeschool educator since 2013.  My family and I currently attend co-op at Kingdom Builders of Northeast Cincinnati and I help teach and aide classes there.  Since resigning from public education, I have taught ESL online and am currently working online for University of Michigan reading college applications.  I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Teaching and Curriculum.

I love education, I love homeschooling, and I love for students (and their parents) to feel proud of all of their accomplishments!

I would be honored to review your child's work and offer you a written narrative.  A written narrative indicates "that a portfolio of samples of the child’s work has been reviewed and that the child’s academic progress for the year is in accordance with the child’s abilities."  What does this mean?  This is what it means for you and I:

1.  I will look at your child's academic progress.
2.  If the work is in accordance with the child's abilities, I will sign the proper form for you to submit to your school district.

That's it!  It's simple.  So many parents stress over this step in their Homeschooling Journey.  There are many factors that stress us Homeschool Moms out- so please don't let this be one of them.

I can review your child's work IN MANY DIFFERENT WAYS!  It does not have to be an organized binder of their work.  I will look at workbook pages, loose samples of work, pictures, videos, projects, etc.  We can meet in person or you can email, facetime, or mail me samples of your child's work.  A simple and popular way is to take pictures of your child's work samples and text me the photos.  I truly believe in you and the work and progress you and your child(ren) are accomplishing.

Contact me and we will come up with a stress-free, performance-free and productive way for you to show me how your child is making progress in accordance with his/her abilities.

$20.00 per Academic Assessment Report
